Graforce offers an innovative energy concept and an economical solution to achieve climate goals, especially for districts, hotels or company buildings.
The methane Plasmalyzer® produces energy-efficient hydrogen (10kWh/kg H2) from methane in natural gas or biogas. It can be used in H2 gas condensing boilers, hydrogen CHP units or SOFC fuel cells for CO2-free heat and power generation.
Since the methane is not burned, but split into hydrogen and elemental carbon, the energy generation is CO2-neutral.
Using electricity from renewable sources, methane plasmalysis is just as climate-friendly as electrolysis – but at a much lower cost. This is because it requires only one fifth of the energy compared to water electrolysis.
The solid carbon is an industrial auxiliary material and is used for asphalt, concrete, cement or soil improvement. This enables the long-term removal of CO2 from the cycle and is therefore exempt from the CO2 tax.
For emission-free heat generation with a negative CO2 balance at the Mercure Hotel MOA Berlin, Graforce was awarded the 2020 Innovation Prize of the German gas industry in the category of efficient energy systems.
